Sacrificial area in a bog, a holy place or cult site where human and animal sacrifices were made, led by Gothi, and offerings were left, with ceramics and animal skulls, at Ribe Viking Centre, a reconstructed Viking village and living history site, at Ribe, Syddanmark, Jutland, Denmark. Ribe is the oldest town in Denmark, founded c. 700 AD, was a Viking trade centre and had strong christian connections through archbishop Ansgar from 9th century. Picture by Manuel Cohen
