Salon de Musique, Chateau d'Amboise

Salon de Musique, or Music Room, renovated 19th century, with musical instruments and portraits and belongings of the Orleans family, on the second floor of the Logis Royal or Royal Residence, in the Chateau d'Amboise, a medieval castle which became a royal residence in the 15th century and was largely reworked in the 15th and 16th centuries, on the River Loire, at Amboise, Indre-et-Loire, Centre, France. On the right is a portrait of Emir Abdelkader, 1808-83, Algerian religious and military leader, kept here as a prisoner of war 1848-52. It is listed as a historic monument and is part of the Loire Valley UNESCO World Heritage Site. Picture by Manuel Cohen
