Salon Vauban, Chateau d'Usse, Indre-et-Loire, France

Florentine inlaid cabinet with secret drawers, 17th century, in the Salon Vauban, originally the castle chapel but converted to a bedroom by the marquise de Valentinay, daughter of Vauban, in 1670, in the Chateau d'Usse, built 15th - 17th century in medieval and Renaissance style, in Rigny-Usse, Indre-et-Loire, France. The sitting room is decorated with 16th century Brussels tapestries. Mannequins wearing period costumes are part of a 2022 exhibition Telle Mere, Telle Fille'. An existing ruined castle was rebuilt from 1440s by Jean V de Breuil and later rebuilt by Charles d'Espinay. The chateau is owned by the duc de Blacas and is listed as a historic monument.
