Sarcophagus, Basilica of Sant'Apollinare in Classe, Ravenna
Marble sarcophagus with 3 crosses and Latin inscription stating that the tomb preserves the body of archbishop John V of Ravenna, 8th century, in the side aisle of the Basilica of Sant'Apollinare in Classe, a Byzantine church consecrated 549 AD by bishop Maximian, dedicated to St Apollinaris, in Classe, Ravenna, Emilia-Romagna, Italy. The marble plaque, c. 730-740 AD, is a deed of donation to John V and the monastery of Classe, of the Camillaria agricultural estate. The building is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
