Sarcophagus, Eglise Saint-Honorat, Alyscamps necropolis
Sarcophagus with sculpted heads, in the Chapelle Notre-Dame de Grace in the Eglise Saint-Honorat des Alyscamps, built 12th century in Romanesque style and remodelled 16th century, in the Alyscamps Roman necropolis in Arles, Bouches-du-Rhone, Provence, France. The burial site was positioned just outside the city walls and was used in Roman, early christian and medieval times. The church is listed as historic monument and the necropolis is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Picture by Manuel Cohen
