Sarcophagus of Hippolytus, rear side with bas-relief of the death of Hippolytus, with bull and Poseidon, with rearing horses dragging him to his death, Roman, 3rd century AD, marble, discovered 1948 in the sea, exhibited in the Praetorium or Pretorius Tower, connecting the Forum to the Roman Circus, built late 1st century AD under emperor Domitian, holding 23, 000 spectators, used for chariot races and theatre, then from 5th century as residential area, in Tarragona, Catalonia, Spain. The city was an important fortified Roman colony named Tarraco and its remains are listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Picture by Manuel Cohen
