Sarikale or Yellow Fortress, a large rock outcrop fortified by the Hittites, and below, temples of the Upper City, at Hattusa archaeological site, near Bogazkale, Corum, Anatolia, Turkey. Hattusa was the capital of the Hittite empire, built in the late Bronze Age from c. 1650 BC, on an older Chalcolithic settlement founded 6th millennium BC.
