Statue of Aphrodite, Greek goddess of love, wearing a diadem and serpentine bracelet, with a winged Eros standing on a vase, Roman, 138-161 AD, marble, from El Mehmara, Sidi Bishr, in the Antiquities Museum, established 2001, in the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, the Library of Alexandria, built 1995-2002 in Alexandria, Egypt. On the statue's base is a footprint from a second missing statue. The building also houses a cultural centre, conference centre, museums, art galleries and a planetarium. Picture by Manuel Cohen
