St Roch as a pilgrim, polychrome statue, 17th century, detail, in the Chapelle Saint-Roch, in the Basilique Saint-Nazaire-et-Saint-Celse, built 1100-1330, in the Citadel of Carcassonne, a fortress built in the Roman then medieval period and restored by Eugene Viollet-le-Duc 1853-79, Aude, Occitanie, France. The church is built in Romanesque and Gothic styles and was restored by Eugene Viollet-le-Duc from 1846. It listed as a historic monument and the citadel is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site.
