Anne and Joachim take Mary to the temple as promised, Mary willingly climbs the 15 steps. Joachim wears a hat with upturned points and a large collar, Anne wears a beaded cloak. These sculpted scenes show the change in style from Gothic to Renaissance in the early 16th century in France. Chartres cathedral was built 1194-1250 and is a fine example of Gothic architecture.
