Mount of Beatitudes, or Christ on the Flowery Mountain, high relief painting of Christ in glory with followers kneeling at his feet, detail, above the confessional in the Eglise Sainte-Marie-Madeleine, built 11th century, in Rennes-le-Chateau, Aude, Occitanie, France. The church, dedicated to Mary Magdalene, was originally the chapel of the counts of Razes, and was restored and redecorated 1887-97. The hill village is best known for the Abbe Berenger Sauniere, 1852-1917, a priest who is thought to have discovered treasure and led many building projects in the village with his mysterious wealth.
