Bronze bust of Olaudah Equiano, a formerly enslaved African, author and abolitionist, 2007, by Christy Symington, in the International Slavery Museum, at Merseyside Maritime Museum, Royal Albert Dock, Liverpool, Merseyside, England. The sculpture was commissioned to mark the bicentenary of the Act for the Abolition of the Slave Trade in 1807. Ship owners and merchants from Liverpool profited greatly from the slave trade, taking over 1.5 million Africans to America. Picture by Manuel Cohen
