Sculpture of Mother with her Dead Son by Kathe Kollwitz, placed here in 1993, in the Neue Wache or New Guardhouse on Unter den Linden, Berlin, Germany. The sculpture sits under an oculus, exposing it to the elements and symbolising the suffering of the people during the Second World War. The building serves as the Central Memorial of the Federal Republic of Germany for the Victims of War and Dictatorship.
