Sphinx Gate, outer gate, built with 4 sculpted sphinxes beside the doorways, 14th century BC, Hittite, on the rampart of Yerkapi, an embankment 250x80x15m in size, at Hattusa archaeological site, near Bogazkale, Corum, Anatolia, Turkey. Hattusa was the capital of the Hittite empire, built in the late Bronze Age from c. 1650 BC, on an older Chalcolithic settlement founded 6th millennium BC.
