Chryselephantine male statue fragment, possibly Apollo, with gilded gold and silver sheets representing hair and jewellery, and ivory head, which would have been attached to a wooden body, in Delphi Archaeological Museum, founded 1903, Delphi, Greece. The statue was probably enthroned and 1 of 3 representing the Delian triad (Apollo, Artemis, Leto). The ancient city of Delphi was the seat of the oracle Pythia and the centre of the world to the ancient Greeks. It is situated on Mt Parnassus in the Parnassos National Park and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Picture by Manuel Cohen
