Statue of Joan of Arc being burned at the stake, 1929, by Maxime Real del Sarte, in the Place du Vieux Marche, the site of her actual death in 1431, next to the Eglise Jeanne D'Arc, Rouen, Normandy, France. After leading the French to many victories during the Hundred Years War, Joan of Arc was captured and tried by the English for heresy and sentenced to death by burning on 30th May 1431.
