Statue of Pope Clement XII, Lorenzo Corsini, 1652-1740, marble, 1738, by Pietro Bracci, 1700-73, in the Second Cloister, built from 1560, designed by Andrea da Valle, in the National Museum of Ravenna, housed in the Benedictine monastery of San Vitale, founded 10th century, next the Basilica of San Vitale, in Ravenna, Emilia-Romagna, Italy. Clement XII commissioned the Candiano canal linking Ravenna to the sea, and built the port. The statue was originally in the Piazza del Popolo and was moved here in 1914. Picture by Manuel Cohen
