Stela, Aswan Museum, Elephantine island, Egypt

Stela, late New Kingdom, 12th century BC, dedicated by the bricklayer Nebnakht for his father Qenen, with relief of Amun and the Elephantine Triad Khnum, Satet and Anukis, with 2 gods revered 200km downstream at Thebes, in the Aswan Museum, at Abu, on Elephantine island in the river Nile, at Aswan, Egypt. The island was important in the ivory trade from c. 3, 000 BC during the 1st dynasty, and was a defensive site above the First Cataract of the Nile at the border between Egypt and Nubia.
