Stele 9, south face, an obelisk carved with a relief of a male royal figure named 8 Flower, beside the monumental staircase at the North Platform, built from 200 BC, at Monte Alban, ancient Zapotec capital founded 6th century BC, Oaxaca, Mexico. The north platform housed the homes of the royal family and elite ceremonial area with temples and a sunken patio. The site is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Picture by Manuel Cohen
