Stele of Gaius Utius, sailor and merchant, his brother Publius and his concubine Clodiae Faustae, detail, Roman, limestone, 1st century AD, from the north fortification wall at Salona, now Solin, in the Archaeological Museum, founded 1820, in Split, Croatia. Split was founded as a Greek colony in 3rd century BC, was the seat of Roman emperor Diocletian from 305 AD and was later ruled by Byzantines, Venetians and Dalmatians.
