Viking longswords, in the new style c. 700 AD, longer, heavier and double-edged, used by the Vikings in a hacking motion rather than stabbing, in the Museum of Gothenburg, or Goteborg Stadsmuseum, a history museum founded 1861 and housed in East India House, in Gothenburg, Vastra Gotaland, Sweden. The swords were discovered in the Nossan creek, South Harene parish, Sweden; in Hallingdal in Norway; Vendel in Uppland, Sweden, and one of unknown origin. Picture by Manuel Cohen
