Tapestry, National Museum of Norway, Oslo, Norway
April (bearded man wearing tunic and tree full of birds), fragment of the Baldishol tapestry, or Baldisholteppet, 1180-90, wool and linen, Gobelin technique, probably made in Norway, in the National Museum of Norway or Nasjonalmuseet, Oslo, Norway. The tapestry was found in the Baldishof church in Nes, Hedmark, built 1613, but originally came from an older church or the home of a wealthy figure. It probably originally depicted all 12 months of the year. Picture by Manuel Cohen
