Temple of Osiris, Bigeh island, Nubia, Egypt
Arch and columns flanking doorway with papyrus capitals, half submerged ruins of the Temple of Osiris, part of the Philae temple complex, Ptolemaic, 3rd century BC, on Bigeh island in the river Nile, Aswan, Nubia, Egypt. The island was partially submerged after the building of the Old Aswan Dam in 1902, along with nearby Agilkia and Philae. Osiris, consort of Isis, to whom the main temple was dedicated, was believed to be buried on Bigeh. The ruins form part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Picture by Manuel Cohen
