Templo Mayor, a stepped pyramid temple topped with 2 shrines dedicated to Huitzilopochtli and Tlaloc, and Temple of Tonatiuh or Temple of the Sun (right), on the Recinto Sagrado or ceremonial area of Tenochtitlan, Aztec capital, now Mexico City, model by Arquitectura Plastica Sensorial, in the Museo Nacional de Antropologia, or National Museum of Anthropology, opened 1964, in Chapultepec Park, Mexico City, Mexico. The temple was rebuilt 7 times until it was destroyed by Hernan Cortes in 1521. Its remains have been excavated since 1978. Picture by Manuel Cohen
