The Temptation of Christ by the Devil, fresco transferred to canvas, c. 1129-34, Spanish, from the hermitage of San Baudelio de Berlanga, near Soria, Spain, in The Cloisters, a museum specialising in European medieval architecture, sculpture and decorative arts, part of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, at Fort Tryon Park, Manhattan, New York, USA. The painting depicts (left-right) the devil daring Christ to turn stones into bread, Satan challenging Christ to jump from the temple and an angel talking to a demon in the last temptation of Christ.
