Tollund Man, a mummified man who died 405-384 BC, discovered in 1950 in Bjældskovdal peat bog near Silkeborg, detail, in Silkeborg Museum, a Danish history museum housed in Silkeborg Manor, in Silkeborg, Midtjylland, Jutland, Denmark. Tollund Man died from hanging and the rope remains around his neck, otherwise he wears a sheepskin cap and a belt. His body was remarkably well preserved on excavation although today the body is a reconstruction and only the head original. Picture by Manuel Cohen
