Monumental tomb of Leonardo Bruni, 1370-1444, Italian humanist and statesman, marble, 1446-48, by Bernardo Rossellino, 1409-64, with effigy of Bruni on a funeral bier supported by eagles, on a sarcophagus, in the Basilica di Santa Croce, or Basilica of the Holy Cross, a Franciscan church built 1294-1385, in Florence, Tuscany, Italy.
