Sanctuary, where offerings of food and blood were given to the gods, with carved wooden totems of Odin and his wife Frigg, at Birka Viking village, reconstructed on the site of Birka, founded c. 750 and abandoned c. 975, on Bjorko island in Lake Malaren, Sweden.
