Traditional trulli houses, Alberobello, Bari, Pugli, Italy
Trulli houses made from dry stone (with no mortar), with limestone walls and conical roofs, in the countryside near Alberobello, Bari, Puglia, Southern Italy. The area was first settled in the 16th century, and the feudal lord, Count Acquaviva, encouraged his peasants to build trulli to avoid taxes. Alberobello is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
