Troodos mountains, Cyprus
Valley in the Troodos mountains of Cyprus, site of Panagia tou Araka, a 12th century Byzantine church, near the village of Lagoudera. The church contains a fresco cycle painted by a monk named Theodore Apsevdis, completed 1192 and restored in the 14th century. It is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Picture by Manuel Cohen
