Urquhart Castle, built 13th - 16th centuries, on the shores of Loch Ness in the Great Glen, Highlands, Scotland. The castle was captured by Edward I of England in 1296 during the Wars of Scottish Independence and was destroyed by government troops in the Jacobite Risings.
