Verona
Low angle view of Statue of Dante Alighieri, 1865, by Ugo Zannoni, (1836-1919). Whilst exiled from Florence, the famous Italian poet, Dante, (1265-1321), lived in Verona. This monument was erected to commemorate the 600th anniversary of his birth. In the background statues of illustrious citizens of Verona crown the Loggia del Consiglio, 1476. Picture by Manuel Cohen
