Reconstruction, 2013, of a Viking royal guildhall or Gildehallen, at Midgard Viking Centre, opened 2000, Borre, Vestfold, Norway. The building was built from wood using traditional techniques, with a shingle roof, bowed walls and decorative wood carvings. 3 halls or salr have been found at Borre and were places of power and wealth, used for assemblies.
