Viking ship reconstruction, Viking Ship Museum, Roskilde

Original mast partner of Sea Stallion from Glendalough, a reconstruction of Skuldelev 2, replaced in 2014 and now used as a bench in the harbour of the Viking Ship Museum, or Vikingeskibsmuseet, a maritime history and archaeology museum for prehistoric and medieval ships, at Roskilde, on the island of Zealand, Denmark. Skuldelev 2 was a long, narrow, ocean-going warship, skeid type, oak, built in Dublin, Ireland, c.1042, for a crew of 65-70, probably belonging to a magnate. The mast partner steers the mast when it is raised and lowered, supports the mast, and also serves a social purpose as bench and table. 5 Skuldelev ships were excavated from the water at Peberrenden, Skuldelev, in 1962.
