Mare de Deu dels Consellers, or Virgin of the Councillors, detail, 1445, oil painting on wood by Lluis Dalmau, 1428-61, in Gothic style, in the Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya, Barcelona, Spain. The Virgin has loose hair and a blue cloak fastened with a jewel and the Christ child is partly covered with a veil. The painting depicts a life-size Virgin and Child seated on a Gothic throne, flanked by St Andrew and St Eulalia (patron saint of Barcelona) with their martyrdom attributes and the 5 councillors of the city of Barcelona who commissioned the altarpiece (Joan Llull, Francesc Llobet, Joan Junyent, Ramon Savall and Antoni de Vilatorta).
