Virgin and child with Saints, painting, 1760-1800, by Pedro Alexandrino de Carvalho, 1729-1810, in the Museu Nacional de Machado de Castro, Coimbra, Portugal. The museum was opened in 1913 and renovated 2004-2012. The city of Coimbra dates back to Roman times and was the capital of Portugal from 1131 to 1255.
