Statue of Virgin Mary with a ribbon, Cathedral of Saint Mary of Tortosa, Tortosa, Tarragona, Spain. The Virgin with ribbon(Virgen de la Cinta) is situated in a niche in a chapel above the entrance to the cloister of the Catalan Gothic cathedral of Tortosa, begun 1347. The holy ribbon (La Santa Cinta) is said to have been left on the main altar by the Virgin Mary in an apparition in 1178. Picture by Manuel Cohen
