Per Widerstrom, Viking cemetery, Eksta, Gotland, Sweden
Per Widerstrom, archaeologist from Gotland, who works with the Gotland Museum, at the cemetery with 4 graves, early Viking age c. 750-820 AD, at Eksta, on the island of Gotland, Sweden. The little known site in woodland includes the grave of a woman buried with chain jewellery and a gold plated box brooch. It is thought to be the burial site of Viking people living on nearby farms, close to the harbour. Picture by Manuel Cohen
