1937 Coronation - Cheering throngs at the Palace
The astonishing spectacle outside Buckingham Palace after King George VI and Queen Elizabeth had driven through the gates and the crowd had surged on to the vast space below the windows, waiting in the pouring rain for the appearance of their Majesties on the balcony. When they did come, the roar of welcome could be heard a mile or more away
