Austrian troops by the Danube
Austrian troops wait on the banks of the Danube, on the other side of which is Belgrade, capital of Serbia. Austria-Hungary declared war on Serbia on 28 July 1914, and the troops were awaiting orders to cross the river into Serbian territory
