Duchess of Argyll's ball for her debutante daughter
A spread from The Tatler reporting on the lavish ball held at Claridge's by the Duchess of Argyll for her daughter, Miss Frances Sweeny. The Duchess, who was formerly Miss Margaret Whigham was Deb of the Year in 1930. As Miss Whigham and Mrs Charles Sweeny, she was a regular face in the Tatler and other society magazines, and, according to the Tatler, Frances was an outstanding debutante...as was her mother...and with her friends danced until after daybreak. Frances can be seen on the right hand side. In the bottom left corner is the Duchess of Argyll with Mrs William Zeitz and Mrs Jonathan Duncan
