Egyptian state yacht Mahrusseh dining saloon

The dining saloon of the steam yacht Mahrusseh, constructed by Samuda Brothers of the Isle of Dogs, London, shown here before its delivery to the Viceroy of Egypt. The Illustrated London News described the dining saloon thus... The panels of the walls here contain paintings of fruit and flowers on papier mache, the numerous windows being draped with pale blue rich silk drapery, embroidered with a rich flowered pattern, the cushions covered with similar material. The columns supporting the roof of the cabin are electroplate, and the thousand and one waxlight shades which surround the saloon held in handsome silver-gilt sconces. Massive electroplate chandeliers hang from the ceiling, and the richest carpets cover the floor
