Grand Duke Michael Alexandrovitch, WW1
Grand duke Michael Alexandrovitch (1878-1918) brother of Czar Nicolas II. Pictured on the front cover of The Sketch at the time the Tsar had abdicated in favour of his brother. Grand Duke Michael said he would only accept the throne if the people, by plebiscite, desired him to do so. He was imprisoned and ultimately murder on 13 June 1918
