Indian Maharajahs offering support to Britain in First World

On the left, Lieutenant-General MAHARAJA SRI SIR PRATAP SINGH SAHIB BAHADUR OF IDAR (1845 - 1922). A career British Indian Army soldier, Maharaja of the princely state of Idar and heir to Ahmednagar from 1902 to 1911, when he abdicated in favor of his adopted son. A warrior of the British Empire, was a friend to Queen Victoria, serving as aide-de-camp to Edward VII and was a close friend of the future King George V. On the right, Colonel, Sir Ganga Singh, The MAHARAJAH OF BIKANER (1880-1943), who raised and equipped a camel corps. He was colonel in the 2nd Bengal Lancers, fought for the British in China and was mentioned in despatches. He was the only non-white member of the Imperial War Cabinet during the Great War. The Tatler notes he was also a fine sportsman, devoted to big-game shooting, and good at polo, racquets and tennis
