The Lady Land Leaguers at work: women of the Irish Land League pictured at their Dublin office in 1881. Whilst their male counterparts were imprisoned, the women continued the Land League's work. Here women work overhauling clothing intented for use by evicted peasants, and for use by the families of imprisoned suspects. At a recent meeting, these patriotic ladies promised never to marry an Englishman, and never to give a policeman a drink
