London crowd in Downing Street
On Bank Holiday Monday, 3rd August 1914, a crowd gathers in Downing Street, official residence of the Prime Minister, to watch the comings and goings of Government ministers during the escalating international crisis. On that day, Germany invaded Belgium and France, and by the end of the following day, Britain had declared war on Germany
