Belgian nurse Marie Somers (here called Margaret Somers), known as the angel of Antwerp, addressing a recruiting rally in Trafalgar Square, London, c. 1915. Somers assisted the escape of four wounded British soldiers in Antwerp but was captured by the invading German forces and tortured before escaping herself
