Stanley Hausner, Polish-American pilot, saying goodbye to his wife, 3 June 1932, before setting off in his Bellanca J NR7085, Santa Rosa Maria to cross the Atlantic Ocean solo. He went missing during his flight between New Jersey and his intended destination, Warsaw, and was picked up by the British steamer, the SS Circe Shell, on 11 June, about 500 miles off the coast of Portugal
