The Scottish Fete, in Lord Holland's Park

A picture and article which appeared in The Illustrated London News, 6 July 1850. The subject was the second annual gathering of the members of the Highland and Scottish Societies in Lord Holland's Park at Notting Hill. The purpose of the occasion was to celebrate and encourage those wishing to take part in traditional Scottish sports and pastimes. The event was attended on Monday 1 July by Queen Victoria, Prince Albert and other members of the royal family
