The late storm: the volunteer life brigade at work. Rocket life-saving apparatus kept ready for use whereby a rocket is fired to throw a line over the ship in trouble from the shore, the hawser (rope) is then brought on board and the sling life-buoy set in operation to bring the seamen and passengers safely ashore
